Poem – Woman of the future

I am a child
I am all the things of my past
I am the eyebrows from my father
Black and thick.
I am the mouth of my mother
Eating every night.

I am all I see
The new bedroom for me with the colorful picture stuck on the wall.
New kittens born on the wooden bed with their mother.
Nice soft hair, with a long tails.
Wind blowing leaves and along the ground.
People buying the food at the market and bargaining with the seller.

I am all I hear
Boom ! Boom ! the loud sounds of fireworks going in the sky.
Vroom! Vroom ! the sound of my father’s motor starting to work.
Water from the pipe falling to the floor
Drip, drip, drip.

I am all I feel and taste
A sour orange with a bumpy skin.
Sweet watermelon with hard seeds and smooth skin.
Soft rice and the aroma of peppery chicken.

And all I remember
Getting hit by the teacher when I came to class late.
Hiding behind the tree and getting bitten by the bee.
Riding the boat with my brother across the river when i was young.

I am all I have been taught
Never go with someone that I don’t know.
No talking when the food’s in your mouth.
Wash! Wash ! your hand before touching the food.

I am all I think
Being a leader and leading the people in good ways.
Being a good student, daughter, friend in the future.
Going to every country all around the world by aeroplane.

I am all those things
I’m like an ant.
And these thing are my nest.

But one day I will achieve my goal.
And be free

Because
I’m the woman of the future.
